Ikat 3d printing

This materal research is about pairing a modern way of producing with a traditional craft. The nylon filament was dyed with ikat inspired methods, by indigo vat dyeing. When printed, the dyed filament creates patterns on the 3d printed surface.

The 3d printed surface is often considered as an unwanted artefact, however this project these byproducts were threated as a distinctive feature like details that are treasured in many forms of craft.
